EMID Wildfire Fuel Reduction Rebate Program

The EMID Wildfire Fuel Reduction Rebate Program provides financial assistance and incentives not to exceed $5,000 per parcel to Rancho Embarcadero residents to reduce hazards that fuel wildfires in our high-risk community. Rebates are limited to one rebate per parcel per fiscal year (ending June 30) and limited to 25 households per year. Applications will be considered based on the following criteria:

1)   Completed application.

2)   Priority order is based on receipt date/time.

3)   Proposed exterior preventative fire remediation costs address risks identified on a complimentary home evaluation report obtained through a Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council (SBFSC) home inspection. Additional considerations:

  • Remediation must specifically reduce fire risk around the residence as identified in the SBFSC inspection report. Aesthetic improvements are not eligible.
  • Tree removal and trimming must comply with applicable laws and permitting requirements (residents are responsible for obtaining permits and complying with applicable ordinances..
  • Residents must obtain a free SBFSC home evaluation and submit a scope of work proposal to EMID for approval prior to beginning work.
  • Before and after photo documentation showing SBFSC recommendations were addressed are required for a rebate to be issued.
  • The program is not retroactive.
  • Sales receipts and/or contractor invoices are required for all rebates.
  • Labor performed by the homeowner or occupant does not qualify as a reimbursable expense.

 

Rebates are offered until the allocated funding limit is reached during the fiscal year. This program is evaluated annually and may be discontinued at any time.
